A blend of about 50% whole cluster fermented Grenache. The Grenache comes from a number of vineyards within the Los Olivos District, all representative of the AVA consisting of soils made up of alluvial material but very different sub-climates. The majority of the Grenache was farmed by myself using organic and regenerative practices. The remainder was farmed organically and sustainably by my friends. Together, the wine is bursting with energy and has great length. It continues to offer more over many hours, even days later still evolving.

Community Cuvée was created with the ethos of making a beautiful red wine that can be anybody’s go-to. Inspired by the accessible but serious wines found in French shops and bistros, where they do not sacrifice quality for affordability. This is my California answer. It’s a cuvée, for the community. Drink well and often.

Each lot was naturally fermented with whole cluster inclusion and aged in neutral french oak barrels. The overall blend is about 50% whole cluster. The barrels selected for this wine are brighter in expression and were first racked for blending on the spring equinox. The wine then sits in stainless steel for a few weeks where the wine sits to meld together before bottling, unfined, unfiltered with a small sulfur add.

Dark red fruits, firm strawberries, and violets on the nose, with a savory edge from the whole clusters—think Herbs de Provence and a generous pinch of maldon salt.

The palate is bright and lifted with soft tannins and a finish that persists. Serious yet joyful with a surprising amount of structure for such a spirited little blend.

I suspect this wine will age well. But for now, it’s the wine I want people to keep reaching for at dinners and hangouts. Serve at room temp or slightly chilled.
